The Mission & Vision
Overall, the mission and vision of the Poseidon Reef Project is to create a sustainable and dynamic underwater artificial reef that serves to benefit the ocean, the reefs and tourism while contributing to the restoration and preservation of the ocean ecosystems. Through the use of innovative design and superior materials, the project aims to bring a new level of significance and meaning to the concept of memorial reefs. The Poseidon Memorial Reef Project design, more than any other memorial reef, has a habitat for all levels of the food chain. It is a breeding territory extraordinaire as a memorial reef and has the space available to expand to meet the growing needs of the project and continue its purpose of the future.
The Concept
Overall, the world of Fish-Eat-Fish is a complex and interconnected system of marine life. Each level depends on the level below it for survival. Understanding and protecting this ecosystem is crucial for the health of our oceans and the survival of all species depending on the reef for survival.
An estimated 25 percent of all marine life, including over 4,000 species of fish, are dependent on coral reefs for habitat during their life cycle.
The Poseidon Memorial Reef design has a habitat for all levels of the food chain. It is the way the materials are situated as well as the variety of heights and holes throughout the project that ensures dramatic marine life development.
The Materials
The materials chosen for the project include marble statues and custom offerings, limestone boulders, Granite Boulders, marine friendly concrete, and steel. They are exceptionally durable and can withstand harsh marine environments. These materials are also porous, allowing for the growth of coral and other marine species, creating habitats, and supporting marine life. Steel provides stability and acts as a solid substrate for marine species to grow.
Using these materials for artificial reef creation has many benefits. They are widely available and cost-effective compared to other reef-building materials, making them suitable for large-scale projects. Creating artificial reefs from these materials also helps reduce pressure on natural coral reefs, which are already under threat from climate change, pollution, and overfishing. Founded on the principles of sustainable reef ecology the plan will set a standard for artificial reef projects while providing an answer as to how artificial reefs can serve watersports and the ocean environment contributing to the preservation and restoration of ocean ecosystems.

The Poseidon Memorial Reef is our second project as a multi-person underwater Memorial Reef and Scattering Garden. We learned after creating the Neptune Memorial Reef that the artistic designs lack of habitat inspired the concept of an ecologically designed reef habitat and a place for “Resting In Peace” in one project. The ocean provides a beautiful place for those take part in ocean watersports as well as those who find peace and joy at the beach watching sunrises or sunsets. The design of the Poseidon Reef is eco-logically designed to create habitats that promote marine life and biodiversity. The modules and sculptures of the reef provide shelter, feeding areas, and breeding grounds for various species of fish, corals, and other marine organisms. These structures and the advanced design create a visually appealing underwater landscape for scuba divers, snorkelers, and photographers to explore.
In addition to its ecological function, the Poseidon Reef serves as a place for remembrance and honoring loved ones. Families and friends can choose to have the ashes of departed loved ones placed in customized memorial structures within the reef. These structures are designed to be a part of the underwater habitat, creating a lasting tribute to those who shared a love for the ocean.
